A far cry from the concept car? Spy shots of a suspected BYD Ocean Series MPV; expected to launch by year-end.

We recently obtained a set of spy shots of an all-new MPV captured while charging at a BYD supercharger station. The outline of the front light clusters clearly reflects the design language of BYD’s "Ocean Network." Based on previously leaked information, this vehicle is expected to be the first MPV from the Ocean Network series, slated for an official launch later this year.

Suspected BYD Ocean Network MPV test spy photos

Based on spy shots, although the new vehicle remains heavily camouflaged, details such as its overall silhouette, light cluster layout, and window area reveal that it differs significantly from the Ocean-V concept—previously unveiled at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show—leaning instead towards a traditional MPV style. Additionally, the vehicle will feature a large grille, conventional door handles, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.

Ocean-V concept car

To recap, the Ocean-V concept is a spacious five-seater MPV featuring a highly versatile cabin with numerous flexible configurations—such as a center console screen that slides laterally, 180-degree rotating seats, a retractable steering wheel, an extendable front-row screen, hidden fold-out tables, and a one-touch "bed mode." We will continue to monitor the situation to see if these innovative features make it into the production model.
