The first-ever sedan in Land Rover history? More details on the Range Rover GT—a vehicle with a bold design reminiscent of the Jaguar Type 01.

In July, Jaguar Land Rover officially announced that the Range Rover family would soon welcome an all-new model—one that stands apart from any vehicle the brand has produced to date. Dubbed the "Range Rover GT," the model features a lower, sleeker stance than any other vehicle in the Range Rover lineup. While its exterior might easily be mistaken for a crossover, the company classifies it as a sedan—a true GT (Grand Tourer)—and it will serve as the first model to be built on the all-new EMA platform.

In an official preview, it was announced that a prototype vehicle has recently departed from the UK, bound for Belgium, before heading to the Nürburgring circuit in Germany for testing. During this process, engineers will fine-tune the chassis dynamics and optimize the vehicle’s performance for long-distance travel. The Range Rover GT will feature the lowest center of gravity and the most advanced aerodynamics of any model in the Range Rover lineup—enhancements that will both extend its pure-electric range and minimize wind noise.

Land Rover emphasizes that, despite its low-slung, sleek design, the Range Rover GT retains formidable off-road capability—poised to lead its class in this regard. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that the reduced ground clearance will impose a limit on its ultimate off-road potential.

In terms of exterior design, the Range Rover retains all its signature elements—from the shape of the light clusters and taillights to the flared wheel arches and the sleek, sloping roofline. Visually, it resembles a lowered version of the Velar, leaning more toward a crossover in its aesthetic.

The interior design will also differ significantly from existing Range Rover models, drawing inspiration from the Jaguar Type 01 concept. Key features include a uniquely styled two-spoke steering wheel, a floating center console, and a large central touchscreen.

Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the Range Rover GT will be built on the new Electric Modular Architecture (EMA), with its initial launch version being a fully electric model. The vehicle is expected to feature an 850V high-voltage electrical architecture—shared with the upcoming Jaguar Type 01—and may also utilize the same 118kWh ternary lithium battery. Should this configuration be adopted, the vehicle would support DC fast charging at up to 350kW. In terms of powertrain, it will likely employ a dual-motor setup, opting against the more costly and higher-specification tri-motor system found in the Jaguar model.

The Range Rover GT will not be limited to a purely electric version; the brand is simultaneously developing a hybrid variant, which is set to launch after the all-electric model. It remains unclear whether this hybrid system will utilize existing Jaguar Land Rover powertrains or feature a bespoke combination of engine, electric motor, and battery.
